One last minute thing for the show

On Friday, Monica talked me into making a dress for the show on Friday. 22 hours and another sewing accident later, I made the best thing in a long time. My pics aren't that great, but I'm still learning the GIMP I'll have better ones next week, when it's on an actual model.

It has a clutch (not pictured) and a wrap, too. It's made from 2 bridesmaids dresses, a formal dress, GAP satin demin pants, a Lane Bryant shirt and faux fur.

And the latest sewing machine injury:

So the is a gallery opening next Friday at Future Tenant Gallery in downtown Pittsburgh. I didn't get everything that I wanted made but here are a few things that I did: (it's hard to see the scale, but these are BIG bags!)

Seneca/Werk

Had a great weekend climbing at Seneca: Image hosted by Photobucket.com but now it's back to work.
Rob and I worked on the site, and there is going to be a Columbus Independent Media meeting Sunday at 5. Details at the website.

There will also be a September DC meeting for anyone interested in doing that type of stuff at 4 at Victorian's Cafe. Come if your interested in doing meeting or participating in any other way!

Things have been busy

Thigns have been busy in Columbus. I've been traveling a good deal and getting ready for the Future Tenant show on August 26th. Mark your calendar for the opening. I'll be there after Critical Mass. (This is all tentative right now. The show is being put on by Monica of Diva's and last time I talk to her she forgot that I was showing and hasn't returned my calls with the details. Oh well, if I don't show, I'll have a bunch of fall handbags up for sale.)
Oh, and I'll have bike patches and possibly a zine up for grabs while I'm in town. Just see me if you want something.

4 new plate necklaces

I made three new plate necklaces. I'm not sure how I feel about these three:

But this one I love!:

New Asian-influenced necklaces

I got 2 great mugs while in Beijing, and here are the first 2 necklaces from them: Image hosted by Photobucket.com Image hosted by Photobucket.com
They're a bit more plain than usual, but the pottery piece was enough, I thought.

New Rings

Upon request, I made some rings for the shop in DC: Image hosted by Photobucket.com

A gift

It was my friends birthday recently, so here's what I sent her:
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
A plate necklace, a stretchy bracelet out of these realyl great yellow stone beads from the local bead shop and oyster shells from China, a stretchy ring with the great yellow stone and smaller pink stones, a Marylin tote and a Baubble necklace with a photo of the woman who played Dorthy on the Wizard of Oz. A super-yummy smelling cream stick (think orange creamsicle) and chapstick from the wonderful Cbus based Green Girl Basics, and a beautiful card that my friend Emily (that I tabled with at Comfest) made (soon to be found at umbrellagirlproductions.com) I felt like it was an insufficient gift (mainly b/c it took me a month to actually mail it out :-( ) So I'm trying to think of something else to make her.

Comfest, Round 2

Sales were pretty decent during the day, until it started POURING at 7. We toughed it out and held down the tent until we were allowed to leave at 10.

If you're in Cbus, we're on Russell Avenue, which leads to the 'Blues Garage.' If you see ladies on skates, you're close, as we're next to the Ohio Roller Derby Team
