I gave a friend one of my glass microscope slide charms and here's what she made with it. Not totally my style, but to each their own...
Finally got to watch Style Wars and it was even better than expected. And I got a two stencil comissions this week too. One from the old Subtext days to some album art for the in progress Isha and Zetta album. And another from a friend of himself from a ridiculous danceparty a few years back. Whoo-hoo!

Friday, October 20, 2006

The week was a bit hectic, but can a week ever be that back when you don't wake up until 2 on Sunday and end the day with Haunted Ohio Ghost stories in the Greenlawn Cemetery? Sewed a bit, Mysterious Skin and Pedal. Debated bike handlebar tape colors, searched hard for violet. Caught up on phone calls. Climbed with Mark which was a nice change of pace.
Made it to Capoeira. And Larry's. Rainy escort home. Late night packing
Now off to Seneca with Mike and Joe for the Chili Fest. I even attempted Vegan sweet potato black bean chili. It's alright, but too spicy for me!

Carve Me/Smash You

So I'm test running a new sewing machine. Not sure how I feel about it. Sure it runs much smoother and nicer than my current machine, but it's made of a cheap plastic, and I'm pretty hard on things. I've already predicted what I'm going to break/lose first.
The automatic sewing option is pretty nice though (no pedal to push with your foot) mainly since I usually sew with both myself and machine on the floor in this half Indian style position. We'll see though...

more cuffs

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

On the way home from work/The Wilds (see Previous post) I worked dilligently on a felt backed cuff. I was pretty happy with the results, and since I have a pretty good stock supply of tubes, more will be coming soon.

The Wilds!

A few weeks ago Alex and I stopped at The Wilds on our way home from Eastern Ohio where we were working. I'm not sure how I feel about riding a bus around to look at animals Jurassic Park style, but it was closed and we just hit up the observation deck. It was so quiet and peaceful, the chill in the air was perfect.

September Critical Mass

A few weeks ago was Critical Mass, which had a small turn out, but the ride was really fun.
After was Ruth's birthday celebration as Mad Mex. I made her a pretty sweet bottle, but didn't finish it until after CM, so wasn't able to photograph it, and she'll never get around to doing that either. :-(

Chauch turns 21!

Not that the legality of being 21 has ever been an issue in the Lehocky household, (or the Belus's) I figure it's as good of time as any to do a little photo post on Craig. Due to the ease of the situation, he's been a staple photographic model for me. Not that he chooses this, but gives in, and usually makes faces like this.
So the are the sports photos. Soccer, Soccer close up, , Hockey, Slackline.
He's definitely my favorite travel partner, (probably has something to do with similar funding sources) We starved in Shanghai, then ate aloe, pretty much ran the Great Wall, rode bikes through Beijing. I almost lost him during a River crossing in Yosemite, biked with him through Montery and SF after we graduated. Probably should have left him in Alcatraz. We made the best of Cancun. Same for Orange County, but we logged alot of driving time outta there.
Canada is always good, especially when Deet is involved.
I've reaped good benefits from his modeling abilities (here and here) and from the AWOL years (here too) which led to the ISYB era. And also led to the only Xmas eve that the Lehocky's have ever gone to church for.
With the loudest squeal over blood I've ever heard from someone who wants to study medicine.
Okay, that's enough for my Chauch tribute.

Living in the Midwest...

Hail out my back door
Living in the Midwest is loud sometimes. The tornado sirens in my neighborhood sound like fractured pieces of elementary school auditorium lectures coming through a broken PA system. Most sounds drive me absolutely insane, this one included. Add the hail setting off all the car alarms in the area (and denting my rental car), throw in fire trucks and I was done for. The movie I wanted to watch was nixed, some gin was comsumed and the music was cranked. Fabric wasn't cut but a few other things were made.

Yellow Springs to Oregonia

The lack of climbing has made me a bit stir crazy lately, so I was able to skip out of work Monday so JG and I headed to Yellow Springs for a bit of bike camping. My new bike didn't work out so well, but the weather and company was amazing. Yellow Springs was a cute town, and the artwork in the vistors center (here and here, plus in the pub here) kept me amused. Hopefully longer trips will be in my future, but now back to the fluorescent light basking, coffee swilling daily grind.

Bike In

So I've been working hard to make cuffs out of bike intertubes. The machine stitching just isn't working for me, and it's making me sad. When I handstiched it, it looked really nice, but the time investment is too great. After struggling with that I headed to the bike co-op one year party.
