The Wilds!

A few weeks ago Alex and I stopped at The Wilds on our way home from Eastern Ohio where we were working. I'm not sure how I feel about riding a bus around to look at animals Jurassic Park style, but it was closed and we just hit up the observation deck. It was so quiet and peaceful, the chill in the air was perfect.

Actually, the bus tour is very good. It stops frequently and the guides are knowledgeable.

  2. I don't know, just kinda had weird feelings about it. Don't totally know how I feel about zoos, so the idea of exotic animals in Ohio and me taking a bus tour to see them was too much to ponder.
But we really wanted to go see Big Muskie, which is even more ridiculous to think about.

I'm generally pro-zoo as long as the focus is on education and conservation and not profit and entertainment. But I don't have time to debate it :)

Big Muskie, on the other hand, is really worth checking out. It was a favorite lunch stop of mine when I was doing a lot of field work in the area.

In the same vein, keep your eye on the Silver Spade...

Strange roadside crap is fascinating. I'm actually ticked that the Weird Ohio book came out. I've had plans on doing something that for a while now! (ever since I accidently came across the Logan Round House)
