Oliver on the new cat blanket

I really wish I had a gene in me that really cared for pets, or at least appreciated them, but I've given up that quest, and just gonna take it as it is and hunt for good in the situation.
I do like having them around to photograph, and I do really like to touch their paws. Especially JGs cats' paws. His cats are the size of small dogs, so their paws are the size of my palm so it's really neat when they spread them out or use them to rub my belly. Oliver and I play this little game where I try and touch his paw when it's all stretched out, but he doesn't want me to so he'll retract it, but then slowly inch it out so the cycle can continue.

If you live in Columbus, come climb this Sunday!

03_20_2006 038 draws
Come out to the COP rock climbing wall on Sunday, September 23rd. They are hosting a free (it says that it costs $7 in the Alive which it won't) open climbing session from 3pm to 6pm. They have also teamed up with Everest Gear out of Granville, and after climbing, there are having a campfire/cookout, and food (burgers and snacks) will be provided. But bring your beverage of choice.
The intent of this is to give an opportunity for people to check out our wall, climb, socialize, meet other climbers and have fun. Our wall has routes for all levels But I think you will definitely enjoy them and they will give you a good workout, especially since our wall is much taller than VA. So if you are not climbing at the Red or the New or wherever this weekend, stop on by for climbing, a campfire and food. It should be a good time!
PS- If you've never tried climbing, give it a shot! I'm a firm believer that Trad Climbing is one of the best things for your body and mind. Plus, then you can go to Seneca Rocks, WV, my personal heaven. Swooonnnn.04_02_2006 010 Ryan Belaying
Its located just outside of Granville. You can take either I-70 east to the Kirkersville exit (#122) and head north on Outville Road or take 161 east and turn south on Outville Road. From Outville Road, turn east on Weslyan Church Road and drive 0.6 miles. The drive is on the left and it goes back alongside a farm field to the the wall which sits in the woods. They'll be a sign.

Birthdays all around!

Dad and Butch
Happy Birthday Butch, and Happy Belated Birthday Dad. Thanks for everything you've taught me over the last 26 yrs, I am greatful for it all everyday. And Dad, as I sit here thinking how the inability to circulate blood through my feet is making me extremely cold right now, I really enjoyed talking to you on Saturday and miss you.

Craftin' Outlaws Inside Recap.

Well, I only had a few oppurtunities to head inside, and when I did it was a stuggle to get through the main aisle to the restroom, let along score food. (And once again, another Cbus bar that will make you 'ginger ale' by mixing sodas from the bar gun. Sad and gross...)
So on the stage area was Bootleg. Chris made his screens in my basement, and we didn't let the emusions dry totally before burning them, so I was pretty worried about their usability, but his shirts came out looking really sharp. And the shirts that he screens on are really soft, so you should probably grab some off of his site!

Emily was in the corner by the stage with the usual look of exhaustion and panic with 100 people swarming her table. On the stage with Chris was Pogo Modern. The husband/wife team making glass jewelry hands down gets my award for best of show. Their work is really clean and stunning and they are a bright, vibrant, lovely duo working out of Groveport, OH. I bought a really great necklace, and the creator bought this bag off of me, which perfectly accented her well-done teal hair. Swoooon...
L.S. Ayres had the best metal work jewelry inside. Inside upstairs, I had been searching for a perfect baby gift since I was in SF, and I finally found a onesie and hat from Tiny Little House. The pink flowery biker-esque hat that I got is so adorable, I really wish they would have had my size...
All-in-all, the day was good, I wish that I would have gotten more photos of everyone, but my sales were pretty steady throughout the day, and by the time I started to wander around with the camera, I was pretty tired, as was about everyone else behind booths. Thanks for coming out, stopping by, and introducing yourself and/or signing up for the mailing list. I should have things posted on my Etsy site later this week.

Craftin' Outlaws Outside recap

Craftin' Outlaws
Got there around 11 and there was no table for me. There was a map where I was supposed to be, but there was RoyalJewelz was there and really not room for both of us. I was a little worried as last year the event was hard to move around in, and I was hoping that it wasn't going to be jammed again. They moved her a bit, and it totally work out for both of us, and she made good use of an extra table next to her, which was nice. I was across the aisle from Aqua Cherry, whom makes great bags from upolstery fabrics. I really loved the clutches that she had (in retrospect, I should have gotten one) and to my back was Beatiful Era of Cleveland . I really loved her collages, and the artist, Amber, looked just like JG's friend, so I couldn't stop looking an her booth for either of those reasons. I wish I would have gotten a photo, she had a really nice set up and I ended up getting nice little gifts to take home next weekend. Be sure to check out her Etsy shop.
To my left was the L2 Design Collective from Pittsburgh. I stood REALLY close to them for most of the day as there was a gap in the overhead tents which I was able to steal the warmth of the sun through. L2 had really amazing silkscreened cards and journals but more importantly, the husband/wife team running the booth had the most adorable boy, which dad carried in the baby-chest carrier all day. Awwwww. I got a few nice cards for next weekend, and it was great to see that they make this postcard. I got it at a trunk show at Sugar in Lawrenceville a few years ago-never intending to send it- but always coveting it. It hung off of my monitor when I lived in the Short North, but I don't know where it ended up in the move.
AmyD was across the ways, and her 2 beautiful daughters and cute hubby stopped in for a while too! Anne Holman was down the row from Amy, and I absolutely love her jewelry. I was very sad that I am on a budget, although I probably would have caved if she would have had some of her rings there... Also on that side of the row was Red Handed Jill, where I acquired a cute pair of shoes with birdies painted on them. Swooonnn.
Further out to the parking lot area was Yumi Yumi. She makes really beautiful prints, and I got this one, and AmyD asked me if I was sending it to JG- no way! That's going in the craftroom so I can swoon over it (and think of him) while I work.
Check out AmyD and her Ohio pins!

Columbus Crafty Cotillion

Columbus Craft Cotillion Flyer Columbus Crafty Cotillion Columbus Craft Cotillion Flyer
Yesterday, from some pretty amazing Source Images, (like this too), I whipped up some Flyers for the Columbus Crafty Cotillion blog and myspace pages to hand out at Craftin' Outlaws on Saturday. Although not the quality I usually like to see in a flyer, they amuse me greatly. And, at the end of the day, what really matters most?
Disclaimer: These graphics are not representative of the consenses process of the group and the group does not specifically support any use of the images I grabbed from Flickr, the crappy fonts from my work computer, the color choices, the possible spelling errors or even the creation of a flyer in under 10 minutes using Microsoft Office to make promotional materials.

Craftin' Outlaws

Old Tag, originally uploaded by Petie_in_Cbus.

Workin Hard. No, actually, no really at all. I've barely made anything for Craftin' Outlaws- I'm just not as ramped up about it as I probably should be. I am hoping to move the handbag making to more of a business than making things for craft shows to sell with a historically underpriced market, and hope to use the shows like this more as a marketing tool. And I haven't well at all since I ate pizza two times on Monday and might have to resort to taking some meds, which will knock me out for a day.
Sadly, I didn't get into Handmade Arcade in Pittsburgh, but it's probably for the best- 1.) as I try and structure it more like a business. 2.) I have a bridal shower in Pittsburgh that Saturday, bachlorette party that night and shower in Erie on Sunday. 3.) I'm excited to put time into the bridal gift & a way over due 1/2 done birthday present for JG (I even started it a good deal in advance of his bday- sadness). 4.) Setting up and tending a booth isn't my favorite thing to do.
So all in all, not much to report on the craft end, but I get to go to Cleveland today to have lunch with a client and see the Cleveland office, so I'm really excited. yay!

I will help you sew purse handles all night long

Cheap Labor.
Only cost me some dent-a treats, nibbles of my toast, a trip outside, and a brushing. Plus the four of us now just sleep in the craftroom. Ideal, as Max wakes me up promptly at 7 everyday, so it eliminates an alarm. And he's just like a mom- pestering more and more as it inches closer to 8, when I reach the "ugh I should have been up already point."

He fills the sink. And now that John's gone, the cats are in attack mode, just waiting for me to leave my closet door open to have at my stuff. (Look! Nathan got attacked by the cat he lives with!)

My heart swells

Yay! Baby!, originally uploaded by Petie_in_Cbus.

My heart swells when good things happen to good people.
Although it was a bit sad that it was the last gathering at Michele's as she's moving to Akron at the end of the month, she's in goo spirits and ready for the move.
Matt and Melissa are having a baby! Which is really exciting, as I'm a big believer that it takes a community to raise a child, and this is our Climbing baby! yay!

The little one!
