So our main travel destination was a village in Slovakia where my father's father was born. Our dad had been trying to track down his origins for the last two years and it turned out to be a great adventure.
We arrived by train, and we weren't sure how much this was all really going to pan out as my dad hadn't heard back from the mayor, who he had repeatedly emailed but hadn't heard back from.
So we walked by town hall and heard a women yell "Gary." It was the mayor and she had read the emails and was expecting us. Her admin assistant had dug through the archives and found his birth record and a women who still lived in the village but knew my dad's uncle who immigrated to Canada.
The mayor had also arranged the local english teacher to come translate. He took us to the church where my great-grandfather would have been baptized.

It was a beautiful mountain village, and seems to be a ski town.
It was pretty amazing
