AOA Mayhem

So this May was the 3rd year of the The AOA Multi-Stage Mayhem Enduro, held at the Wilds, near Zanesville, Ohio. I like the Enduro style format as it feels like there's less pressure from riders trying to go around you. And (at least at this event) the officials were good about holding the rider behind you for an extra minute or two if you thought you were going to be slow. And were were, but I'll call it cautious since I got a little injured when I had done it two years prior... check it the race rambling here.
Ginger and I were riding as a duo and stopped for dinner and beers at Weasel Boy so didn't get to preride the course.

We were the last team to go out and we rambled to the first check point. It was a little further out than I remembered and I was happy that I decided at the last minute not to wear the full face mask as it was HOT out there. Ginger only came with a small water bottle and the nice time keeper let her take his hydration pack- he had enough Miller lites to last through the day anyways...
The women solo division was behind us and one lady was struggling, saying that her boyfriend talked her into this (who are these boyfriends?!) and so we told her to tag along with us as we meandered through the course.

Coming through the 4th stage.

We were slow, which ended up being a long day for us, but the Pro women were there at the end and everyone was super nice. Probably helps that it was sponsored by Sierra Nevada....

The last big jump where dudes were getting big air, tacoing wheels and almost running Ginger over...

But all-in-all an amazing day, a race for the yearly calendar.
And look, I didn't even get hurt! Cheers to that!

And did a 5k the next morning!
