It had been a few years since I had to slog around the 'ol Marathon refinery landfill, so I thought I'd swing through Catlettsburg, Kentucky and see if the town was as I remembered it....
Verdict: It is a very nice river town. Much nicer than I could recall. But I also wasn't living out of a duffel bag, rushing to another jobsite and covered in BTEX...

I couldn't sleep, so wandered in the am as the fog rolled from one side of the mountain to the other. Can check out those pics of here and here...
I skipped the morning yoga and just met up with our groups. The fog was starting to clear out and dry everything out by then.
We worked in the pump track then on faster, higher tabletops and jumping off of larger features on the trail. We broke for lunch then it was time to ride!
The trails were much faster than the soggy day before and we got all the runs in we could!
Here's a little video they put together! You can see me at 0:15 and the video makes the weekend look pretty lame, but it was a blast!
Here's a little write up about Day 1,
and special bonus round! What happens in Snowshoe...

A few of the ladies from Team Jeni's (and a friend) headed out to Snowshoe, WV along with 50 other women for a downhill weekend.
Upon waking Saturday morning, the fog was so dense you could only see a few meters in front of you..
It cleared away abit after the yoga was done and breakfasts were consumed. The morning was devoted to introductions and brief skill sessions, broken up into 3 groups.
And in the afternoon I was in the advanced group and we hit the intermediate trails to work on tabletops and banked, wooden turns. And it was rainy- so rainy. And cold- so cold for July. Thus creating so much mud. The high was around 55, which you really felt sitting on the lift back up those 1,500'. But it's rare that we can ever ride on mountain bike trails in the rain as it potentially destroys the trails, so it was nice to get some air in the mud!
