Last Sunday was the first in the Easy Rider Short Track Cyclocross Series put on by Easy Rider Cycling. After taking last season off, but not having my leg repaired and not riding much more than mountain bikes, slowly, all summer, it was humbling at best. But a good time! $5, no license needed and race number gets you beer discounts at target="blank">Country Boy Brewing's Country Club adjacent to the park. (also adjacent to the park is a West Sixth which does not have specials on single cans of beer, nor sells them individually. Sorry bartender, my bad!)
There were a good amount of small humans racing around and parents picnicing after.
Sunrise Bakery provided starches for the baguette relay race,
which even got some of the polo players off of the court and one the grass.
Though the baker's team won for the second year in a row, which smells suspesious...
The great 1-lap polo-player race, complete with UCI regulated leather boots!
They had enough races for two categories of men, which apparently more than doubled last year's turnout, so that was great to see!
Then we had 6 ladies turn out to ride, 2 of them never on a cross course before! Fun was had by all!
Sadly I didn't make this week's and headed north this weekend, but looking forward to the series closer on the 29th!
