We made it into Barcelona to grab a quick snack (tapas, sangria, beer) and head to the tour of the iconic La Sagrada Família.

It was pretty breathtaking inside:

Then by recommendation of a friend, caught a flamenco show at Los Tarantos. It was surprisingly amazing and we were glad we added it at the last minute:

Then we caught an early flight home.
Verdict? It was a great place to see, and if we went back would post up in Margalef for a few weeks, based out of Madrid. But it was no Iceland.

Back to the water!

From La bola de Chimo we started our journey up towards Barcelona, stopping a bit south of the city to camp near the beach at Platja Vilanova. We really hadn't seen many other humans outside of the cities, seemed that after the Friday workday ended, folks headed to the coast for camping!

We headed towards the beach before the sun set.

The camp store was full of fresh/frozen seafood, veggies and a butecher station and bakery. Very different from the KOA's of the states...

We had a good night's rest and then continued back towards Barcelona for our last day, stopping at Sitges Aquatic Paradise - which Atlas Obsura made to be an abandoned waterpark/graffiti mecca- and maybe it was but someone wouldn't let me hope the fences to the closed off areas...

The public areas seemed to be having a big bachelor/bachelorette party/physical challenge course.

La bola de Chimo

From the sea, we headed inland towards Villena. Passing through the town, we drove into the barren land to the Airbnb for the evening. (google maps, campingbola.com ) It was a bit difficult to find, but when we finally found it, it was well worth it!

The basement was set up as a potential bar/wifi spot for campers, and there were various igloos and tent spots outside to camp in. (though no one was there and looked like hadn't been in a while...
IMGP4555
IMGP4531
Apparently there was someone living in a camper on the property, though we didn't see anyone, and the owner stayed in a tent while we stayed in his home

The owner made a video here. He also has a website describing the camping, etc and he was especially proud of the igloos....

We headed into town for dinner. It was siesta and we were famished, so ended up eating chinese, but it was delicious.
Made it back for sunset:
